Supplies:

1 Skein Lily Sugar n Cream yarn

US #3/3.25mm needles

Yarn needle

(Finished size approximately 8" x 8-1/2")

Instructions:

Cast on 41 sts

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

At least in my craft room!  Holy moly, I've got so many projects going right now it's almost overwhelming.  It is going to be the year of scarves for Christmas this year and I almost have all the yarn I need.  I ordered a vast majority of it from Knit Picks this year, my first time ordering from them.

So far, so good!  The colors are amazing!  I wish these pictures did the yarn more justice, but hopefully photos of the finished projects will be better.  I've chosen a lot of heathered yarns because I honestly couldn't decide on just one color per person. 



Knit Picks Comfy Worsted in Seraphim

There will only be one gift that is not a scarf, and I'm pretty excited about it!  I will be making an open cardigan that is really chic and can be worn from fall to spring.  It's for my sister-in-law, but if it turns out as cute as I'm thinking, I'll be making another for myself! 



In addition to these gifts, I'm working on some other crafty items to share with you this holiday season.  I'm still trying out some dishcloth patterns, so stay tuned!  =)

Figs In Autumn

I've had a skein of Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick n Quick in my yarn stash for quite some time now.  I'm not even sure what I initially purchased it for!  But then I found this really cute pattern on Ravelry by Jane Richmond and I knew exactly what I was going to make!  I thought this pattern was really unique and economical, using just one skein for an adult hat and a toddler size hat.  I would have like a little more slouch for the toddler size, but its still really cute!

              

Zucchini Bread

Mmmm....I can't even begin to tell you just how good this bread is!  I've never made zucchini bread until this year when we had an over-abundance of zucchini from the garden.  (I just picked the last one this past week!)  This recipe makes 2 loaves -- I usually leave one at home and bring one into work, where it's gobbled up within an hour or two.  I've tweaked the original recipe to our likings and now I'm sharing it with you!

Ingredients:

• 2 cups sugar
• 1/2 cup vegetable oil
• 1/2 cup applesauce (I use cinnamon)
• 3 eggs
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 3 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
• 2 cups shredded zucchini
• 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

Directions:

• In a large bowl, beat the sugar, oil, eggs & vanilla.  Add the flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder and cinnamon to the sugar mixture until just moistened.  Stir in the zucchini and chocolate chips.
• Transfer to two greased 8" x 4" bread loaf pans.  Bake at 350 for 55-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.  Cool for 10 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely.
